This is a reproduction (heliogravure from 1923) of
the Self-portrait (1912) by the Dutch artist Jan Mankes (1889-1920)

heliogravure that after his death in 1923 was
issued by his wife, A. Mankes-Zernike.

• Jan Mankes is known as "Holland's most serene painter" and painted often in a restrained, realistic style.

• The original artwork is located in the
collection of the Fries Museum.

Ooit appeared in the monograph Jan Mankes from 1923, compiled by his widow A. Mankes-Zernike and R.N. Roland Holst. A rare, limited art edition in folio format with about 26 to 28 mounted heliogravures of his work. The work was published by the Utrecht art dealer J.A.A.M. van Es on the occasion of an honorary exhibition.
