Description from the seller
Marcel Schellekens, born in Soerendonk in 1954, pursued his education at the Academy of Visual Arts in Utrecht, department of graphic arts. He lives and works in Bergen in the former studio-apartment of Mommie Schwarz. Since 1986 he has exhibited quite regularly in galleries across the Netherlands, but has also shown works in New York, Vancouver, Tokyo, Edinburgh and Vienna. Retrospective exhibitions were held at the Museum for Contemporary Art in Utrecht and the Kempenland Museum in Eindhoven. From his training, Marcel Schellekens has specialized in etching techniques and over the years has developed a completely individual working method. This has led to painterly color etchings, where no lines, but color fields printed on top of one another characterize the image construction. He works with three different etching plates for the base colors red, yellow and blue. By pressing them transparently over each other, a rich range of color shades emerges.
Dimensions: 49 x 64 cm
Dimensions with frame: 73 x 88 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition we have our own in-house finishing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
