Description from the seller
Leon Adriaans (1944-2006)
Canvas
Dimensions:
18 x 13 cm
13 x 18 cm
18 x 25 cm
Good condition
Adriaans is on the one hand utterly Brabantian in his themes of rural life, his workhorses and his doves. On the other hand this is only the starting point for the artist for whom painting was of life-and-death importance. Existential and universal subjects were what truly mattered to him: the lifeblood itself, as he wrote, the untraversed areas of the soul, the search for insight. This search manifested itself in vivid, direct paintings with maximal expressiveness about euphoria, consolation and forgiveness, about the creative fire and the painter's shield.
His works are, among others, in the collections of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, CODA in Apeldoorn, Noordbrabants Museum in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Centraal Kantoor Rabobank Utrecht, ABN/AMRO Headquarters in Amsterdam, De Bruin Collection in Wassenaar, Stichting Artimo in Breda, Mr. Th. Wachters in Veldhoven and Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar.
