Description from the seller
Original and delicate engraving by Simone and Henri Jean entitled « Nuit de Lunes », created approximately around 2005.
Gravure numbered 30/99 and signed by the artist in pencil.
The artists, a pair of French engravers based in the Mellois country (Deux-Sèvres), worked “with four hands” in their workshop “La Cheminée Bleue.” They developed a singular graphic language, blending traditional engraving techniques with embossing that plays with the light and the texture of the paper.
This work features a play of motifs in engraving and embossing, in a format of 22 x 27 cm. The poetic and dreamlike atmosphere of the title “Nuit de Lunes” is reflected in the delicacy of the line and the relief of the motifs.
Simone and Henri Jean have exhibited in numerous salons in France and abroad (FIAC/Éditions-SAGA in Paris, Art Expo New York, Estampa Madrid…) and were the subject of a major retrospective at the Bernard d’Agesci Museum in Niort in 2012.
Original work on paper, not framed.
Dimensions: 22 x 27 cm.
Technique: engraving and embossing.
Period: around 2005.
