Aurelie Nemours (1910-2005) - Composition 1985/91

Nemours (1910–2005) was a renowned French artist and one of the leading figures of post-war geometric abstraction. Her highly distinctive compositions explore the relationship between colour, rhythm, geometry and space, often using squares, grids and precise arrangements of lines and colour fields. Inspired by Constructivism and the radical simplicity of artists such as Mondrian and Malevich, Nemours developed an exceptionally refined and disciplined visual language. Her works are held in major international collections and museums, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
