Description from the seller
Frontal and bold low-angle shot: lying on a white and blue towel, a naked woman, scarlet mouth, holds a beach novel at arm's length whose cover completely covers her eyes. Behind her, the yellow band of sand, the frothy edge, the deep blue sea, the pale sky. Semiotically, the painting is a machine of irony: the body offered to the sun is exposed defenselessly, while the only “look” of the painting is the devouring one printed on the paper. The cover acts as a mask, a shield, and a threat at once — danger is no longer in the water, it is in the hands of the bather. A straightforward solar palette, bodies modeled in thick brushstrokes, the red of the lips as the only skin accent.
