Dag Peterson (1939-2019) - Dancing Cranes

Dag Peterson (born 1939) is a Swedish wildlife artist, author and illustrator, widely recognised for his detailed depictions of birds and animals. From an early age, Peterson had a strong interest in drawing and painting, while his fascination with animals and wild nature naturally led him towards wildlife art. He eventually made art his full-time profession in the 1970s.

Peterson is particularly known for his highly detailed and naturalistic representations of birds. He works in several media, including pencil, watercolour, gouache, acrylic and oil, and his detailed bird lithographs have become an important part of his artistic production. His aim is to capture the character, anatomy and behaviour of animals while maintaining a strong sense of their natural environment.
