This charming lithograph by Swedish-Finnish artist Eija Saho depicts a playful winter scene with a horse-drawn sleigh travelling through a snowy landscape. The strong blue tones, warm glowing lamps and expressive figures create a magical, storybook-like atmosphere. The simplified forms and lively brushwork give the work a joyful and imaginative character.
Eija Saho is a Swedish artist with Finnish roots, based in Kungsör. She has been active as an artist since 1993 and has approximately five years of formal art education and more than 30 years of experience.
Saho is particularly associated with colourful, life-affirming works in watercolour and acrylic. Her paintings often feature nature, seasonal scenes, everyday life and imaginative subjects, using expressive colour and a spontaneous approach. Her work has been described as colourful and full of a sense of joy and magic.
