Marcel Elisen (1968), Abstract, oil painting, original edition, 100 × 80 cm, hand-signed, Netherlands, sold by Galerie, in good condition.
Description from the seller
This colorful painting arose from a collaboration between Marcel Elisen and Lulu Wang. The work is characterized by an energetic composition of pink, blue, red and gold-like hues, in which flowing lines, circles, dots and organic shapes move over one another. The different techniques and handwriting of the two artists seem consciously to engage in dialogue with each other. In the center, a strong, calligraphic mark draws the eye, while around it an almost cosmic world of spirals and rhythmic patterns emerges. The collaboration between Elisen and Wang thus gives the painting a special interplay between Western abstract painting and a more calligraphic, East Asian visual language. The result is spontaneous and playful, yet at the same time harmonious: two artistic voices that together form one dynamic whole.
Marcel Elisen is a Dutch artist who enjoys experimenting with color, movement and various materials and techniques in his work. His visual language is expressive and free, with abstract shapes, lines and patterns playing an important role. In this collaborative work, that love of spontaneity and layering is especially visible. By working together with Lulu Wang, there is also space for encounter and exchange between different artistic and cultural backgrounds.
