Oil on canvas painting titled Abstract by Marcel Elisen (born 1968), an original edition dated 1990–2000, measuring 100 × 80 cm, hand-signed, from the Netherlands, sold by Galerie, in good condition.
Description from the seller
This colorful painting arose from a collaboration between Marcel Elisen and Lulu Wang. The work is characterized by an energetic composition of pink, blue, red and golden hues, in which flowing lines, circles, dots and organic forms move over each other. The different techniques and handwritings of the two artists seem consciously to engage with each other. In the center a powerful, calligraphic mark draws attention, while around it an almost cosmic world of spirals and rhythmic patterns arises. The collaboration between Elisen and Wang gives the painting such a special interplay between Western abstract painting and a more calligraphic, East Asian visual language. The result is spontaneous and playful, yet at the same time harmonious: two artistic voices that together form one dynamic whole.
Marcel Elisen is a Dutch artist who likes to experiment with color, movement and different materials and techniques in his work. His visual language is expressive and free, with abstract shapes, lines and patterns playing an important role. In this collaborative work, that love of spontaneity and layering is especially visible. By collaborating with Lulu Wang, there is also room for encounter and exchange between different artistic and cultural backgrounds.
Dimensions excluding frame: 100 x 80 cm
Viewing, of course, is possible
