A tabby kitten with a red bow sits and looks up at a bumblebee in flight - one of Meta Plückebaum's best-known motifs. Trained privately in Düsseldorf by the painter Hermann Emil Pohle and a founding member of the Association of Düsseldorf Women Artists (1911), Plückebaum became famous for her charming etchings of cats and kittens, collected throughout Europe and the United States. She was married to the genre painter and etcher Carl Plückebaum.
Condition: good, consistent with age. Light even toning of the paper, a few small foxing spots. Minor irregularities along the upper plate edge. Colours still fresh. The frame shows wear and small paint losses; the paper backing on the reverse has small tears at the edges (see photos).
Carefully packed and shipped with tracking from Switzerland. Buyers outside Switzerland may be charged import VAT/duties by their customs.
