Description from the seller
We present to auction the work "Platos," an exquisite print created and printed in 2016 by the renowned realist painter and engraver Carmelo San Segundo (Ávila, Spain, born in 1949), who has been honored throughout his distinguished career with the National Prize for Engraving.
This piece is an intaglio print skillfully executed using the soft-ground technique in two ink tones, blue and black, employing two 25×25 centimeter zinc plates. The work has been carefully printed on high-quality Super-Alfa paper, with overall dimensions of 28×38 centimeters. It stands out particularly as an Artist's Proof, belonging to an undetermined edition.
These kinds of specimens, traditionally reserved by the creator outside the commercial edition, possess undeniable appeal for collectors due to their exclusivity. The piece is marked with the initials "P/A" in pencil in the lower left margin, bears its title, "Platos," in the lower center area, and is handwritten and signed in pencil by the artist in the lower right margin.
From a private collection, the graphic work is in excellent condition. The paper is pristine, free of creases, handling marks, discolorations, or any oxidation stains, having always been protected. The lot is offered framed under glass, and the frame, which is in optimal condition, is included as a courtesy in the auction.
To ensure complete transparency and rigor, the print is accompanied by its original certificate of authenticity. This document was handwritten and signed by Carmelo San Segundo himself in the city of Ávila on October 21, 2016, fully guaranteeing the authorship, exclusivity, and provenance of this magnificent contemporary work.
