An hors-commerce proof of museum level, reserved exclusively by Miró and his publisher and never intended for the market: only 20 H.C. copies outside the numbered edition of 120. These private proofs appear very rarely at auctions, making the piece extraordinarily scarce and coveted by discerning collectors and museums.
Created at the prestigious Atelier Mourlot in Paris and published by Tériade Éditeur, this lithograph belongs to the legendary folder of 24 plates L’Enfance d’Ubu, Miró’s lyrical homage to Alfred Jarry’s anarchic theatrical cycle.
Artistic and aesthetic value
The work shows Miró in full maturity: black calligraphic stroke floating over broad fields of bright white, speckled with bursts of color — vermilion, citrus yellow, cobalt blue and emerald green—.
The pigments, applied in transparent lithographic glazes, generate a bright, almost vitreous brilliance, with ***Photographs have been taken both in natural daylight and indoors under warm ambient lighting. Images taken outdoors in daylight best reflect the true vibrancy and chromatic intensity of the work. The artwork is preserved in pristine condition.
