John Torres (1939–2001), Bloemstilleven, watercolour, hand-signed, in good condition, sold with frame, 73 × 93 cm, Spain, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
John Torres is a versatile artist and musician from Los Angeles. He writes and composes music for TV, film, and theater, and also translates his creative vision onto canvas. His work, both musical and visual, explores emotion, rhythm, and expression, and shows how art and music come together in one story.
This colorful watercolor depicts a still life with a large houseplant and several vases and pots, rendered in a loose and spontaneous painting style. The long, curved green leaves set the rhythm of the composition and are alternated with soft floral shapes and vibrant accents in red, yellow, pink, and turquoise. Notably, the combination of transparent color washes with areas where the artist has only drawn fine pencil lines gives the work a fresh and relaxed appearance. The light background and bright color usage enhance the sense of space and give the still life a cheerful, almost summery character.
Dimensions of the work: 55 x 75 cm
Dimensions of the framed work: 73 x 93 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible.
