The engraving is in excellent condition and is delivered with a matching off-white colored passe-partout in the depicted frame.

A great Dutch master artist who unfortunately only lived to 31. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, comprises about 150 paintings, mostly small formats, about 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of graphic art, mainly etchings and woodcuts.

Jan Mankes entered art history as “Holland's most tranquil painter.” He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth-making around his artistry.

De gravure is in uitstekende staat en wordt geleverd met een bijpassende off white kleurige passe-partout in de afgebeelde lijst.

Een grote Nederlandse Meester Kunstenaar die helaas slechts 31 jaar is geworden. Zijn gehele oeuvre, ontstaan tussen 1907 en 1918, omvat ongeveer 150 schilderijen, merendeels op kleine formaten, een 100-tal tekeningen en ruim 40 bladen grafiek, voornamelijk etsen en houtsneden.

Jan Mankes is de kunstgeschiedenis ingegaan als “Hollands meest verstilde schilder”. Hij stierf jong aan tuberculose, iets dat bij heeft gedragen aan de mythevorming rondom zijn kunstenaarschap.
