Panamarenko (1940-2019) - THERMO VOLTAIC ENERGY CONVERTOR

the Thermo Voltaic Energy Convertor, a well-known artwork from 2001 by the visionary Belgian artist Panamarenko (pseudonym of Henri Van Herwegen). The displayed work is a colored design drawing (construction plan) for a fanciful, futuristic solar car powered by a theoretical thermo-photovoltaic system. Features of the design Concept: Panamarenko combined in his work scientific curiosity with poetry, humor and sheer imagination. The car allegedly generates energy via a 'convertor' (glow bulbs) in combination with photovoltaic cells (such as gallium arsenide or silicon). Humorous details: On the top blueprint it is noted in handwritten Dutch that the vehicle runs "with the power of Eddy Merckx". Release: This type of print was issued in a limited edition by publisher Ronny Van de Velde in Antwerp. This is thus a print of originals and limited lithographs of these are nowadays to be found in art collections
