La Conchiglia was a very important art print workshop that closely collaborated with the great masters of postwar Italian art.
Iconography and Style: It represents one of his iconic “white” still lifes in the atelier.
On the table stand jars with brushes soaking, squeezed tubes of color in the foreground, cups and working containers. A blotch of paint (a “splatter”) on the background wall breaks the strict geometry of the composition, introducing an element of gestural spontaneity within his typical, rigorous control of space.
Overall condition is excellent:
The paper retains a healthy tone, without significant yellowing or unsightly damp stains (foxing).
The deckle and sheet margins are intact, preserving the original fiber.
The blind stamp is impressed clearly, without crush or deformation of the surrounding paper.
