Apparition of the Madonna to Saint Martina by Berrettini Pietro, called Pietro da Cortona.

Berrettini Pietro, called Pietro Da Cortona (1596/1669): inventor.
Reason for attribution: inscription.
Name of the dedicatee:
Cardinal Francesco Barberini.
Chronology:
before 1669.
Technique:
burin engraving on laid paper.
Inscription:
at the lower margin: Sanctae martinae virginis et martyris / concordii epiphanii et soc. mm. Imaginesn.
Below the title: eminent.mo ac reu.mo principi francisco card barberino s. r. e. vicecancellario / petrus berrettinus cortonensis d. d.
Emblem:
on either side of the dedicatory inscription the bees symbolizing the Barberini family appear free in the space, without a shield.
Measurements:
195 mm x 271 mm (engraved part);
198 mm x 290 mm (plate edge).
Conditions:
the print is in very good condition, intact, very clean (rare scattered spots, more extended and evident at the lower right corner), with excellent inking, no losses. It is mounted (perfectly, without any damage to the original print) on another heavier and non-laid paper of a later period.
