About the artist:
Victor Vasarely: (1906-1997) French painter of Hungarian origin, recognized as the father of optical art, or "op-art." His works are in the world’s major museums, including: Hara Museum of Contemporary Art (Japan); Fondation Vasarely; Centre Pompidou (France); Walker Art Center, MOMA, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim, New York (USA); Das Museum Folkwang (Germany); Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Portugal); Kröller-Müller Museum (Netherlands); Queensland Art Gallery (Australia); Nykytaiteen museo Kiasma (Finland); Horsens Kunstmuseum (Denmark); Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Italy); National Gallery of Scotland, Tate Collection (United Kingdom); Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein (Liechtenstein); Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Argentina); Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (FYROM); Henie Onstad Kunstsenter (Norway); Victor Vasarely Museum, Pécs (Hungary); Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Caracas (Venezuela); Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montréal (Canada)...

About the work:
Vasarely’s perfectionism imposes an absolute quality requirement that only at that time the prowess of the presses in Basel could satisfy. Thus, between 1971 and 1978, Editions du Griffon, in Neuchâtel (Switzerland), were entrusted by Victor Vasarely with the production, distribution, and diffusion of 19 albums and 12 serigraphs comprising a florilegium of his works.
This unique print comes from a special edition entitled "Ondulatoires" which was conceived and supervised by Victor Vasarely himself, and with the same attention to quality Editions du Griffon gave exceptional care to these album series printed in the 1970s, identifiable by the copyright on the back of the prints.
