Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, also known as) (1887-1965), architect, painter and engraver.
The sea is always present, pl. 1, 1962.
Original lithograph in black, plate from the portfolio “The Sea Is Always Present,” printed by Atelier Michel Cassé, Paris, and published by Éditions Forces-Vives, Geneva. Signed with the monogram, dated and annotated on the plate (LC / CM 62). On Arches vellum.
Edition of 120 numbered copies (plus a few hors commerce copies); this sheet is unnumbered, the justification appearing on the guard sheet.
Dimensions: sheet 56 x 49.5 cm; image approx. 46.5 x 46.7 cm.
Condition: very good. Fine, homogeneous impression, deep and sustained blacks, clean white line; large margins with the characteristic beards of Arches paper; fresh creamy vellum, at most light handling marks. Not framed.
