Description from the seller

An original work and particularly representative of Hans Bellmer’s universe, a major figure in Surrealism. Bellmer here explores the female body as a moving construction, made of fragments, assemblages and transformations, in a vision that is at once disturbing, erotic, and deeply singular.

Created in 1973 for the edition Les Anagrammes du corps, published in Paris by Éditions Georges Visat, this engraving belongs to one of the artist’s most important graphic collections.

This is plate 9 of the portfolio, catalogued under Flahutez reference no. 139.9. The drypoint was etched after Bellmer by Cécile Reims-Deux, as part of the edition’s realization.

Edition numbered 16/100 and signed in pencil by Hans Bellmer.

Printed on Arches vélin paper, cream-colored.

Sheet: 50.1 × 37.6 cm.
Composition: approximately 24.5 × 20 cm.

An original piece from 1973, particularly interesting for collectors of Hans Bellmer, of Surrealism and 20th‑century printmaking.
