Hans Sebald Beham, Testa di Cristo Coronata di Spine, 1520, a woodcut from Germany, 42.8 x 32.7 cm, XVI century; unsigned and in discrete condition; an original impression, not a copy.
Description from the seller
Original wood engraving by Hans Sebald Beham, previously attributed to Albrecht Dürer - “Head of Christ Crowned with Thorns,” circa 1520.
Hollstein 829 and Pauli 829 IIa; Bartsch 26 (Dürer).
Dimensions 42.8 x 32.7 cm.
This is an original print, not a copy; to the touch you can feel the groove left by the impression of the woodcut on the paper; on the verso of the sheet the raised mark is visible.
Excellent impression in a late edition (probably 19th century) on laid paper, in excellent condition after the restoration of two small tears near the lower left corner. Monogram of Dürer beneath the missing subject.
