E. García - Lectura en silencio XL

"Silent Reading" is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García.

The work represents an intimate, everyday moment: a woman comfortably seated on a large green armchair while she remains absorbed in reading. At her feet, a dog rests quietly, reinforcing the sense of calm and contemplation that dominates the scene.

The composition stands out for an intense and contrasted palette. The red and orange of the walls envelop the interior, while the luminous green of the armchair and the deep blue of the floor create strong chromatic contrasts. A large blue lamp, flowers, ceramics, and books complete the space and add small points of interest around the figure.

The brushwork is loose and expressive, with simplified shapes and broad color surfaces. Light is built through direct contrasts, moving away from a strictly realistic representation to enhance the atmosphere of the scene.

"Silent Reading" captures one of those private moments when time seems to stand still, turning the simplicity of reading accompanied by an animal into a warm, serene, and deeply domestic scene.
