REFERENCE: Catalogue raisonné Marc Chagall and Ambroise Vollard #41

INFORMATION: Marc Chagall began engraving the copper plates illustrating "Dead Souls" by Nikolai Gogol starting in 1923. After hard work, the print run was completed in 1948 and published by Tériade.
