Adam Perelle (1640–1695) created the etching Vue des belles maisons des environs de Paris (1690), signed on the plate, in good condition, France, 188 × 240 mm, depicting famous monuments.
Description from the seller
First plate in the collection of copper engravings depicting castles, gardens, princely and noble residences in the vicinity of Paris, created by the engravers Gabriel Pérelle (1604–1677), Adam Pérelle (1638–1695) and Nicolas Pérelle, and published in Paris by Nicolas Langlois around 1690.
A specimen with small margins on three sides, trimmed to the framing along the lower edge, in good condition, residues of old pasting glue at the corners on the verso, minor abrasions visible in transmitted light, the upper right corner slightly chipped (see photos).
At the top center a cartouche with the title of the series, while below the image the inscription "fait par Perelle", and the excudit "A Paris chez N. Langlois" are missing.
A specimen with very tiny margins, on laid paper, in excellent condition, only residues of old pasting glue at the corners on the verso (see photos).
Depicted is a Baroque view of a monumental garden with a large central fountain rich in sculptures and jets of water, framed by an exedra with a monumental arch in the background, animated by figures in seventeenth-century attire, a dog in the foreground.
