AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Refined vintage engraving on paper, produced in 1767 by the celebrated French artist Marie-Louise-Adélaïde Boizot (1744–1800), published in Paris by Jean-Jacques Flipart and François Joulain.
The work is titled Hollandsk kvinde ved et cembalo, set gennem et vindue ("Dutch woman at the harpsichord, viewed through a window") and is a splendid and faithful printed translation of the Golden Age Dutch painting "Femme au virginal" (circa 1662) by the master Gabriël Metsu (the original painting is today held by the Petit Palais in Paris).
The scene presents an extraordinary trompe-l'œil effect: the noblewoman is portrayed in profile in a finely detailed domestic setting while she plays the instrument, framed by a scenographic arched opening that simulates a stone window, a typical element of 17th-century Nordic genre painting.
One impression of this identical print is part of the prestigious permanent collection of the Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark).

N.B. Missing the lower part

Condition: Good. The sheet is trimmed along the bottom beyond the print of the plate. The lower white margin portion that contained the editorial inscriptions of the era (title, dedication, and address of the printer booksellers) is missing. The pictorial portion and the upper and lateral architectural arch are instead fully preserved and legible. An intact impression of this identical matrix is part of the permanent collection of the Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark).
