The clock stands out due to the fact that it is smaller than other wall clocks of this design and it has unusual decoration in the corners. A closer look tells us that this clock features the logo of its manufacturer:  Hamburg Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik (H.A.U.). A factory in Hamburg that made these clocks for the American market. This is also apparent when looking at the clockwork as the springs are not in barrels, but displayed the American way - open and exposed. 

The logo was registered in 1886 and was replaced by a different logo in 1891.  This makes the clock easy to date. A publication about this clock factory was published under the name "The Hau Company, Antique Clocks Publishing, Concord, California". This is the first item I have seen from this factory in the last 15 years, and I see many clocks.  

The clock’s top piece is not in great shape. It has bent and is missing an ornament in the middle. And the decorative edge has all but disappeared.  Also the ornaments on both sides of the top piece are missing. The rest of the clock is in much better condition. The striking decoration in the corners are intact. There are some light stripes on the bottom piece. These were probably caused by sellotape.  And the wooden edge above the door is broken. Apart from the aforementioned, I haven’t found any further flaws.

The clockwork functions well and runs for more than 8 days, almost two weeks. The clock strikes every half hour and counts the number of hours. A key is present to wind the springs of the clock.

This lot can be picked up in Almere (NL), but shipment is also possible. If shipped, will be well packaged and registered.
