Antique keris from Solo
Beautiful keris with straight pamor blade. Clear, beautiful pamor (Ngulit semangka = melon skin pamor), on both sides. It has a very good fit.
The Ladrang warangka, the crosspiece with an elegant boat shape, is for ceremonial use. Carved from AWAR AWAR (hard)wood and the whole casing is made in one piece. Requires a lot of craftsmanship! This type of wood is characterised by a pattern of fine "brush strokes". Please note the deep grooves on the short curl.
It features a brass, half-open pendok, a Blewah model with a finely chiselled floral pattern along the edges. An age-related seam at the tip, but not in the least bit disturbing. Hardwood Nunggak semi-hilt, excellently carved. The old mendak features zirconia stones and the large Njeruk keprok selut is an eye-catching addition. Large openwork selut (silver plated?) with floral pattern and with numerous facet stones.
