This Sony MDS-JB920 minidisc player/recorder is one of the top range which was ever made by Sony. They have listed it among the high-quality top line of the QS series! 

The player is equipped with many features, including pitch control and with very good and legendary DAC.

Technically the player is in perfect condition. Everything works properly Has some signs of wear and scratches on top. Front has slight signs of wear. Furthermore, top player. 

This is a real must have for the artist or musician. Digital in all respects: Samples for theatre, DJ, radio, etc. etc. The player comes with 2x Sony 74 min mini discs.

I was asked to test a number of DACs two years ago. This initiated the last comeback of my minidisc player. I could still remember that the MDS JB920 had a good built-in DAC on board. I have then compared this DAC with a number of established external DACs. Conclusion: ‘my’ Sony DAC stood its ground. Check on the various forums: the story goes that Sony had provided the minidisc player with an ‘oversized’ DAC to have the player succeed. 


Specifications:

ATRAC 4.5 Variable pitch and speed control, range: -95% (!) Up to + 12.5% (American Sony announcement says variable pitch, Sony Italian announcement says variable speed, apparently this varies at the same time, as if the motor speed varies with tape or vinyl). Digital Record Level Control for recording and playback. Remove A-B. User-selectable LEVEL SYNC threshold value (means threshold for silence for track marking). Two-line display on the front panel. CD text and adapted file transfer automatically stores information and displays information about the disc and the song when recording from CD to MD. R-Core Power Transformer, 20-bit analogue to digital converter, Current Pulse digital-to-analog converter and anti-resonant aluminium front panel. 6 second time machine recording. S-Link circuits enable operation with other S-link Sony A/V products. Operable with a GUI interface from a PC or Mac with the PCLK-MD1 connection set and software (¥ 15,000). RM-D17 remote control (equipped with EDIT/NO and YES buttons). Date and time stamp recording. The device does not spin the disc in recording pause mode (like the JE500 and JE510 do). Unit is the same as the MDS-PC1 internally. TOC Cloning possible.
