André Gill: La Muse à Bibi. Paris, Librairie Marpon & Flammarion, 1881. 97pp.,  11 x 17 cm, 180gr. 

Paperback illustrated on the cover with a  name handwritten in pen from the time, “Cheandy?” probably the book’s owner.  Title on the spine in black and white, and passage from the editor’s catalogue on the 4th cover - original edition published anonymously and printed on goldenrod.  Scuffing, use wear on the corners, borders and spine: covers a little dirty from use; inside is some foxing, work illustrated on the frontispiece with a drawing by the author.  
This book is enriched with a handwritten letter by C. Louis de Ségur, 3 page letter, that was inside the book for unknown reasons (perhaps it was addressed to the person whose name is on the cover (as cited above)). 
 The count Louis de Segur-Lamoignon was a French soldier and industrialist, 1860-1930, who died at the Chateau de Méry-sur-Oise.. His grandmother the Countess de Ségur dedicated her book “Quel amour d’enfant " to him.  He served as cavalry officer and was removed at his request to the Senegalese Spahis squadron.  He took part in the Battles of Samory and Bakel in 1886 among others.  
 Passage: " Votre aimable envoi (livre) vient de m'arriver...Le Maréchal de Ségur à dû le feuilleter souvent quand Ministre de Louis XVI il reconstituait l'armée désorganisée par les épreuves de la Guerre de sept ans, et le mettait en mesure d'envoyer une division en Amérique pour l'indépendance des Etats-Unis. Sa bibliothèque était trés renommée..dispersée dans la tourmente révolutionnaire etc. " Beautiful and rare document.
