A well engineered live steam 1.5in. scale model of a William Allchin No. 3251 Traction Engine "Royal Chester", based on the engine designed by W.J Hughes for the Royal Chester Agricultural Show of 1925. It was a last attempt to promote steam power on the farm.

Built in Scotland over 3 years (2000 manhours) from 1953. Specifications: single cylinder, two-speed general purpose engine. The engine has a brazed copper boiler with fittings Also some nice accessoiries like a padlock, spark arrester, bucket, coal shovel and stoking poker. Incl. a bag of small coals, appr. 20kg.

The model finished a very nice colour combination (black-green-red) with cast name plates ‘Ol Smokey’, with spoked red and golden metal wheels with name plaque "Wm Allchin, Limited, Northampton, England".

Dimensioning; 13 x 26 x 8-1/2 inches (33.0 x 66.0 x 21.6 cm). Further details; rear wheels 22.5cm diameter . Weight appr. 30kg.
