Aude Fonlupt

Fabius Brest  (1823-1900) 

Orientalist artist from Marseille who studied painting with Emile Loubon and Constant Troyon.

Under Loubon's advice, he went on a trip to Palestine and Turkey between 1855 and 1859. 
Throughout his life, oriental architecture remained his main source
 of inspiration. 
There are still many canvases of landscapes from this period, such as our lovely painting:

"Le Bosphore - Constantinople - Port en Turquie" 
Oil on mahogany panel signed at the bottom left, probably painted at the request of his niece Marie Brest, as shown in the inscription at the bottom left. 
Very nice wooden frame with gold leaf gilding.
The drawing and its frame are in very good condition. 

A certificate of authenticity will be delivered to the buyer. 
It is issued by the Marc Ottavi consulting firm.
