Magnificent bust made by combining two types of alabaster, one with a white shade for the face and the base of the piece, and another with a reddish finish to contrast the dress that the figure wears. We can see the great elegance in the forms in which the gesture is composed and the tactile qualities of great realism achieved.
On the back the signature of its author can be seen: "P. G. Bessi", Professor Giuseppe Bessi (Italy, 1857-1922), Italian sculptor, known for his busts, made under the premise of a great realism. He got to make portraits of great personalities, such as Beethoven, the Muse of Ghent...
 Bessi manages to combine with a great mastery the echo of Neoclassicism and the fledgling Art Nouveau of the time. 
His pieces were part of the World Exhibition of Paris, Turís, and St Louis; pieces, and now his pieces can be seen in the collections of the Hermitage and the Alabaster Museum of Volterra, the author's birthplace.  

At the base appears the name of the portrayed "MODESTIA"
