Simone Sedda

Violin from 2000 (opus 97) handmade in Utrecht by the Dutch master violin maker Lambert Houniet (Amsterdam, 1941), based in Overveen, the Netherlands. Provided with handwritten label, applied in the violin and provided with a separate certificate of authenticity (see photo). Complete with Negri violin case. 

Back length 355 mm; top width 169 mm; middle width 108 mm; bottom width 209 mm; total length 600 mm.

The top is made of spruce wood, originating from the French Alps, made of two parts that belong together with a regular grain. This top was obtained in 1978 in Mirecourt, France and has since been stored in-house.

The back, sides and curl are made of maple wood with a clear grain. This wood was obtained in Mittenwald, southern Germany in 1966 and stored under our own management.

The violin is covered with a transparent, supple, orange-red oil lacquer of our own composition, made with only natural raw materials. 
 
The violin is in near perfect condition, equipped with strings. Small worn spots in the paint here and there, one larger one of 2 cm in the back (see detail photo). 

The violin was commissioned by amateur violinist Wim Snel (born in 1936 and died in 2020) and is sold because no one in the family plays the violin. Wim has played the violin with great pleasure for 20 years. For many years he participated with this violin in concerts of the Betuws Symfonie Orkest. For 20 years he had lessons from violin teacher Annemarie Konijnenburg from Bilthoven, affiliated with the Utrecht Conservatory.
