A very beautiful old hand press, in top condition! and very Industrial.
Look at those beautiful cast iron cogwheels, brilliant cast iron.

A mangle is a tool that was used in past times for removing moisture from washed textile and at the same time ironing it. 
Between two rolls, of which the mutual distance could be adjusted, the textile was spinned through, whereby the water was pressed out. Later this was taken over by the centrifuge.

The mangle is hardly used in households anymore in the 21st century, in laundries the mangle (even though very modernised) is still widely used. The word lives on in the expression "put through the mangle", which means, put someone under pressure, squeezing out figuratively speaking. (source wikipedia)
