Fire extinguisher with original mounting bracket made by Pyrene Company, London England.
From 1910, this type of extinguisher used in vehicles, aircraft and ships. The pumping mechanism produces a strong 3 mm Ø with a range of ± 8 meters. The extinguisher is in accordance with directions provided with a Dutch text and comes from the Eindhoven City buses (Magirus Deutz type) 1950 's. However, the text is in an old spelling of for 1934?? At the time, he was filled with carbon tetra chloride (CTC or CC14), a very dangerous product because it was basically a chemical weapon (WWI). The extinguisher was not allowed to be used in enclosed spaces with people and was usually mounted in the engine compartment. Pyrene fire extinguishers were manufactured in different countries with various labels. Research has shown that the patent date is widely misleading to the actual production date (1955).
The height is 36 cm, width 8 cm and weight 1600 grams. The condition is used but good. The extinguisher has the original patina but after a cleaning he is back shining. There are some dents on the surface (see last photo).
