Una aldaba o llamador es una pieza articulada de metal situada en las puertas exteriores de las casas, que sirve para llamar a sus ocupantes por medio de golpes en la puerta.
Es muy común en el mundo arabe e islamico encontrar a la Mano de Fátima representada en aldabas antiguas o mas recientes, o como símbolo de protección en las entradas de las casas. Conocida como Jamsa o Hamsa, es un símbolo de protección utilizado por judíos y musulmanes.
El nombre de la Mano de Fátima hace alusión a Fátima, la hija del profeta Mahoma, una joven virtuosa nacida en La Meca en el año 604, y casada con Alí, primo hermano del Profeta. Fatima rezaba con tal fervor que era capaz de conseguir que lloviese en el desierto, dejando tras de sí preciosas flores que surgían de la arena.
De ahí que a la Mano de Fátima se le atribuyan poderes de protección.
Hamsa en Arabe quiere decir cinco, los cinco dedos de la mano y los cinco pilares del Islam.
Esta Mano de Fátima de bronce dorado está embellecida con grafismos árabes de carácter religioso.
