Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) was een Amerikaans fotograaf die zich meer dan 30 jaar bezig gehouden heeft met het maken van foto's van het Noord-Amerikaans indianen leven.
Van zijn 20 delige uitgaven, met zo'n 700 portfolio photogravures en 1500 volume photogravures zijn er zo'n 290 gedrukt.
Een groot aantal complete uitgaven, ongeveer 220, liggen bij diverse musea, bibliotheken en verzamelaars over de hele wereld.
De resterende 70 zijn vaak uit elkaar gehaald om de losse photogravures te verhandelen.
Deze originele photogravure komt hieruit vandaan.
