For sale from my personal collection is this amazing sixties Wittnauer ref. 8007 Compressor an iconic dive watch with its characteristic dual crown EPSA Super Compressor Case.
EPSA is a commonly used shortening of Ervin Piquerez S.A., a case manufacturer who provided some of most well-known brands like in Switzerland with water-resistant dive watch cases throughout the 1950s, '60s, and' 70s. The manufacturer's Super-Compressor style case is arguably its most famous creation. Distinguished by two cross-hatched crowns, an inner rotating bezel, and an EPSA logo inside the caseback, these cases were used by at least 48 brands, most notably Longines, Enicar, Universal Geneve, JLC, and, of course, Wittnauer, like the one we have here .

The term “Super Compressor” is one that is quite often misused these days. Most people associate Super Compressor (SC) with any watch that has dual crowns and an internal rotating bezel, but it’s not that simple. Super Compressor is a trademarked name for specific case designs made by the case manufacturer Erwin Piquerez S.A. (EPSA). Super-Compressor cases relied on an ingenious principle: They were constructed so that as water pressure on the outside of the case increased, the gaskets would be further compressed so that the watch actually became more water resistant the deeper you went. For that reason, the cross-hatched crowns are not even screw-down (as you will find, by contrast, in the Oyster case from Rolex, among others).Another advantage of this configuration is that the O-ring did not have full pressure on it constantly, extending its life. Most SuperCompressor watches were rated to a depth of 600ft.

Please note that this watch has both cross-hatched crowns with the Wittnauer W, to have both W signed cross-hatched crowns on this type of watch is truly rare!

Wittnauer dubbed its Super-Compressor the Scuba-Matic, one of the better names among the 48 or so models. With a date complication, the Scuba-Matic adds a couple really interesting quirks. First off, the bottom crown works as a quick-set date adjuster by pushing in; a rare feature to have in a 1960s dive watch – no needing to spin the hands around the dial to catch up with the date. The ref. 8007 has got a very cool highly domed acrylic crystal, the Super Compressor crystals are specific to each case design and assist in securing the inner bezel along with the tension ring for water resistance.

The matte black dial on this example of Wittnauer's Scuba-Matic is preserved in great condition. The inner rotating bezel with its lume triangle  is operated by the upper crown and works flawlessly. The seconds hand has got a little block and really adds flair to this watch, the hand set is original Wittnauer 8007 yet a "service" set because the earlier hands were corroded.

Inside ticks a Wittnauer C11KAS automatic movement (a derivative of the Longines 501, Longines was part of the same group at the time), it has been serviced in 2021, keeps time well and has a great amplitude, see the timegrapher photos. 
A movement to enjoy for a long time. 
The quickset function of the date functions like it should, you can press the lower crown and it will switch date. Never do so between 21.00 and 03.00.

I am not the best photographer , so the watch looks even better in the flesh, don’t look too much at the dust specks or fingerprints.

Diameter without the crown is 36.4mm, 42.6mm length, 11.2 mm thickness, the watch wears very comfortably. 
The lugsize is 19mm and the watch comes on new tropic style rubber strap.

Since my collection has gotten too large again it is time to make some choices, so this rare bird may leave.
