Ce superbe grand dessin à l’encre de Chine a été réalisé par André Franquin en 1978 pour illustrer la pochette d’un disque 33T édité au Pays-bas.
L’illustration représente Gaston Lagaffe qui regarde, avec admiration, passer devant lui un surprenant cortège conduit par le Marsupilami perché sur la tête d’un gorille qui, lui-même, chevauche un éléphant échappé de Tembo Tabou. Le trio est suivi par une mouette plus rieuse que jamais, la Fiat 509 transportant le célèbre Gaffophone et un Longtarin, agité comme toujours. Tout cela sous le regard d’une Mademoiselle Jeanne quelque peu inquiète…Un pur moment de bonheur graphique!

Depuis 45 ans, c'est la première fois que cette œuvre est proposée en vente aux enchères. Son authenticité a été vérifiée chez le vendeur par un expert de Catawiki spécialisé dans les dessins originaux de bandes dessinées."

Au dos de ce grand dessin original à l'encre de Chine sur papier dessin, Vittorio Leonardo a réalisé la mise en couleur à la gouache, selon les instructions de Franquin. 

Si la lumière au dos est retenue par transparence, les couleurs alors apparaissent et l'original peut être admiré en couleur. 

Franquin lui-même a indiqué les couleurs sur un calque avec un crayon doux, ou pastel.

Les dimensions pour la pochette 33T,  avec le disque inclus sont 31,1 x 31,2 cm.

Deze geweldige grote tekening in Oost-Indische inkt werd door André Franquin gemaakt in 1978 om de platenhoes te illustreren van een 33 toeren LP in Nederland. De illustratie stelt Guust Flater voor die met bewondering kijkt naar een verrassende stoet geleid door de Marsupilami, gezeten op de kop van een gorilla die zelf een olifant berijdt, ontsnapt uit Tembo Taboe. Het trio wordt gevolgd door de immer lachende meeuw, de Fiat 509 met de beroemde Flaterfoon op het dak en agent Vondelaar, zoals altijd geagiteerd. Dit alles onder het toeziend oog van een ietwat bezorgde Juffrouw Jannie…Een puur moment van grafisch geluk.

Sinds 45 jaar is dit de eerste keer dat dit werk op een veiling aangeboden wordt. De authenticiteit is bij de verkoper geverifieerd door een Catawiki-expert, gespecialiseerd in originele werken van stripauteurs.

Op de achterkant van dit groot origineel werk in Oost-Indische inkt op tekenpapier, heeft Vittorio Leonardo in gouache de inkleuring gedaan, op aanwijzing van Franquin.

Indien er licht achter de tekening wordt gehouden, dan schijnt de inkleuring door en kan het origineel in kleur bewonderd worden.

Franquin zelf heeft op kalkpapier de kleuren met zacht potlood, of wasco, aangeduid.  
Het werk bevat onderaan Franquin's initialen (AF.)

De afmetingen (LxB) van het origineel zijn: 40 x 34,7 cm.
De afmetingen van de meegeleverde LP zijn 31.1 x 31,2 cm.
