Description: A gilded bronze white Tara statue depicted seated on cushions, wearing elaborate robes and jewelled necklaces, hair arranged in tight curls rising to a crown. Often regarded as the mother of all Buddhas, she is a much appreciated Tibetan deity because she is the protector of the living and always full of compassion for those who suffer. The white Tara is the benevolent bodhisattva. She brings healing and serenity. The white Tara is often called Sītā Tārā (the beautiful Tara). She is shown seated in the lotus position, holding in each hand a sacred lotus flower. Tara is known in India as Avalokiteshvara and Guanyin (Kwan Yin) in China.
