This bottle of Chartreuse comes from the historic Bar Stoppani, located in Bari.
  the history of this café, in via Roberto da Bari, most probably (it has not yet been ascertained) the oldest in the whole region, dates back to many years ago and runs parallel to that of the city. In the mid-1800s many foreigners arrived in Italy to set up their industries: in Bari, among others, the Lindemanns with their steel mills, Pierre Etienne Toussaint Ravanas of Aix-en-Provence who innovated the cultivation of the olive tree in Puglia, and in 1858 from Sent, a small town in the Engadine, the expert confectioners in the processing of chocolate Giacomo Stoppani, his son-in-law Fausto Poult and the brothers Giacomo and Gaspare Lenzi. The head office of their company is in Corso Ferdinando (Corso Vittorio Emanuele). Its hall soon became famous and hosted, among others, King Nicholas I of Montenegro, the celebrations when his daughter Elena abjured the Orthodox faith in 1896 to marry the king of Italy, those for the inauguration of the Bari railway -Brindisi, those in 1913 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the new city, and again Guglielmo Marconi, Benedetto Croce with Giovanni Laterza, and many others. But Stoppani is above all a meeting place for gourmets: the Swiss introduced a new concept of more sophisticated, lighter, softer pastry. They serve sorbets, coffee and lemon granitas, hot chocolate, cassata, spumoni, and the wonderful nut cakes, millefeuille and mimosa, sospiri, ricce with lemon cream and very crumbly meringues with the famous cream.

After the second war, Stoppani had to move first to via Abate Gimma and then to via Roberto da Bari.

Wile very care will be taken to pack it, this is an historic bottle and old closures can never be fully guaranteed.
