Louis Kalff voor Philips - Zwarte Romeo met verchroomde stang in goede staat. 
Enkele kleine imperfecties in de kap (zie foto's).

Louis Christiaan Kalff werd geboren in 1897 Amsterdam waar hij ook toegepaste kunst, meubelvormgeving & architectuur studeerde aan de Rietveld Academie.
Op 27-jarige leeftijd schreef Kalff in een brief aan Anton Philips, de president van Philips & Co., dat hij vond dat de reclame van het bedrijf verbeterd kon worden. Kort daarna werd hij aangenomen en een jaar later kreeg hij de leiding over de commerciële en artistieke propaganda-afdelingen.
Met zijn ontwerpen voor posters en verpakkingen moderniseerde Kalff in hoog tempo het imago van Philips.
Vijf jaar later startte hij een nieuwe afdeling voor lichtadvies en werd hij verantwoordelijk voor de verlichting van de wereldtentoonstellingen in Barcelona (en later ook Antwerpen, Brussel en Parijs). Naast het Philips-logo ontwierp hij ook andere bekende reclameposters (Calvé, PTT, Holland Radio, …), boekomslagen, bureaulampen en zelfs enkele gebouwen.
Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd hij art director bij Philips en werkte hij samen met Le Corbusier en de componist Edgar Varèse.
Na zijn pensionering in 1960 bleef hij actief als adviseur voor Philips en was hij betrokken bij de uitvoering van het Evoluon-gebouw in Eindhoven. De vorm van dit gebouw is terug te vinden in veel lampen die hij ontwierp.
Louis Kalff overleed in 1976
