Outstanding Italian steamer travel trunk in an extremely good overall condition. 
The steamer trunk (or cabin trunk named after their location of storage in the cabin of a steam ship) first appeared in the late 1870s, and were most popular from 1880 to 1920. These trunks were mostly made of harded canvas with wooden bars and metal protections to be stackable without causing damage.
This trunk still has its warm brown color decorated with an elegant black outlined frame decor.
All brass and metal parts are original, with working locks but missing keys.
The front and sides have strong leather handles. 

The inside has a removable tray (with light stains on one side), made of wood and linen, all in very good vintage condition. 
The interior lining showcases a charming decor in off-white, black and red checkered pattern. 
Created in Italy at the end of the 19th century, this travel trunk will make a wonderful decorative addition to any home. In addition, it is still perfectly usable as an original storage unit.
