Christoph Motschmann ontving op 29 april 1857 een Duits patent voor een stemkastje dat in de romp van een poppenlichaam kon worden geplaatst. Hij heeft nooit poppen ontworpen of gemaakt. Hij imiteerde een poppenstemkastje in de romp van Japanse poppen die in Europa werden geïntroduceerd nadat admiraal Perry's bezoeken aan Japan rond 1853-56 de handel met Japan voor de rest van de wereld openden. Hierdoor konden Duitse poppenmakers de eerste Japanse poppen van het Ichimatsu-type zien. De Duitse poppenmakers kopieerden de poppenstijl met de bijzondere ledematen en pieper in de maag en op deze poppen werd soms de naam Motschmann gestempeld omdat hij patent had gekregen op de pieper erin. Dus in feite zijn dit helemaal geen Motschmann-poppen, (de naam is ten onrechte verankerd in de poppenterminologie), want de eer gaat eigenlijk naar de Japanners voor het ontstaan ​​van deze poppen.

Deze zeldzame, grote Motschmann-pop wordt ook Täufling (dopeling) genoemd en is, gezien haar heel hoge leeftijd (±1860) nog in zeer goede staat met op het papier-maché hoofd plukjes geverfd haar en in het gezicht zeer weinig craquelé (zie foto's).
Ze is 60 cm lang, draagt haar originele kleding, heeft werkende glazen blauwe pupilloze slaapogen en een open mondje met bamboe tandjes. De pieper werkt niet. Van een duimpje ontbreekt een schilfertje. 

Deze pop wordt met de grootste zorg verpakt en verzekerd verzonden.
