For the final Scuderia AlphaTauri x Catawiki: Direct from the Grid auction of 2023, renowned Italian designer Elena Salmistraro has reimagined race-used Formula 1 components from Scuderia AlphaTauri’s warehouse, such as wheel nuts, rear rims, and brake discs and transformed them into one-of-a-kind design objects. 

This coffee table, with a slender and dynamic aesthetic, features wheel nuts as its protagonists. Strategically positioned and stacked, they create an intriguing central leg that gives life to an interesting fusion of shapes and geometries. The result is a piece that combines the art of repurposing with modern and radical elegance, offering a unique visual experience.

This unique item, a brilliant reinterpretation of automotive components, can seamlessly fit into any setting, bringing not only the history of racing tracks – evident in the white and red striping reminiscent of the track limits – but also an aura of modernity and timeless style.

Elena Salmistraro is a Milan-based designer and artist and is celebrated for her innovative and expressive design approach. Her work, blending the boundaries of art and functionality, has earned her international acclaim, including the prestigious FRAME Awards Best Designer of the Year 2022.
