Domaine de Baronarques, AOC Limoux, rouge, 75 cl, 2017

In 1650, the property already existed under the name of Domaine de Lambert and belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Polycarpe, a village located near Limoux in the French department of Aude. 

Domaine de Baronarques occupies a special place among the properties of the “Mouton” branch of the Rothschild family. It is the last favorite of Baroness Philippine de Rothschild who acquired it in 1998 with her children. 

The property is located in Languedoc and has 110 hectares in one piece, including 43 hectares planted with vines. 
All the wines are produced in the Limoux appellation. 

The aging was carried out for 12 months in French oak barrels. 
For this 2017 vintage, the color is dark and beautifully clear. 
The nose of great finesse reveals delicate notes of ripe fruit. Blueberry and blackberry blend harmoniously with the expression of a controlled woodiness. 
Allowed to breathe, aromas of spices and liquorice complete this wide aromatic palette. 
The attack on the palate is fresh and precise. 
The tannins are elegant and cover the palate with a fleshy substance. 
The aromas of red fruits are perfectly ripe and are complemented by lovely peppery and spicy notes. 
The finish, complex and long, reveals fruity flavors of great intensity.

A very great wine from this appellation !

Vintage 2017 is a blend : 50% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 12% Syrah, 10% Malbec and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon.
