A unusual 19th century teapot from Wilhelm Schiller& Sohn. The teapot is decorated with molded decoration of scrolling vines and squirrels and butterflies. The finial on top is a standing squirrel.

Marked on the bottom with: WS&S and a 4

The design could very well be inspired by Yixing ware from the Qing dynasty, as a very similar Chinese teapot is depicted in: Yixing: Teapots for Europe | Patrice Valfre | 2000 | object 240.

Dimension: 15 x 9 x H 12 cm

Condition: The squirrel finial is reglued and the tip of its tail remodeled. The spout has a small filled chip. No further damage, only wear consistent with age (revealing the lighter colored body).
