Ancient Egyptian Alabastron

Circa 664-332 BC - Late Period
This alabastron is crafted from cream-coloured stone. It features a gently rounded base, and its body tapers upwards to a narrow mouth.
An alabastron served as a container, typically employed for holding perfumed oils or unguents in ancient times. The vessel's narrow mouth facilitated controlled dispensing of its contents, making it suitable for personal grooming rituals or ceremonial anointing practices.

Dimensions: 100mm x 50mm; weight 190g
Provenance: Acquired from a Central London Antique Shop; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market since the 1970s.
