Late Byzantine Bronze Cross - orthodox -

Circa 15th-19th century AD
This bronze cross pendant showcases a Latin cross form with each corner of the cross exhibiting protruding thorns. The arms culminate in trefoil-shaped finials. In the center of the cross, a relief figure of the crucified Jesus takes prominence. The shorter arm edges bear the inscription "IC XC," representing the Greek abbreviation for "Ιησοῦς Χριστός" (Iēsous Khristos), translating to "Jesus Christ."


Dimensions: 72mm x 51mm; weight 13g
